Bellandur RWAs present resolution to MP

More than 50 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) from Bellandur presented the 'Bellandur Development Resolution-2018' to P C Mohan, MP from Bangalore Central.

The RWAs — that came under the Kasavanahalli Development Forum (KDF) — urged the MP for implementation of various civic issues of the ward, addressed in the resolution.

KDF president Vishnu Prasad said the MP responded to the demand to expedite the metro line from Iblur to Carmelaram (Phase 3) with the BMRCL.

"We have given the MP a list of the advantages of a metro line, and have submitted the data of the traffic and the crumbling infrastructure of the Bellandur ward. He has promised to urge the BMRCL to expedite the metro line," Prasad said.

"The Bellandur ward is an IT hub with heavy traffic and no proper connectivity with the neighbouring areas. It takes a minimum of 40 to 45 minutes to reach Iblur junction from the Bellandur (1.6 km) main bus stop. A metro line will likely solve the problem," said Kamal Kumar, a resident of Bellandur.

However, the residents were not satisfied with the MP's reaction to their request for suburban connectivity to East Bengaluru. "Based on the documents that P C Mohan showed us, it was clear that the state government has no interest in taking up the suburban rail project to connect East Bengaluru. So far, we have not seen any serious
developments like the acquisition of land needed for the project," added Prasad.

"We also got funds approved for some of the projects that were stuck with BBMP special commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena," he said.

The residents set a deadline of two weeks for the BMRCL officials to respond to their demand for metro connectivity to Carmelaram, and threatened to stage a protest on a large scale if ignored by the officials.
