Two men, including a pedestrian, were killed in separate road accidents that occurred in KR Puram and Airport Road since Friday.

On Friday evening, a canter knocked down a 63-year-old man from the pillion of a bike. The man, Arogya Swamy from Tamil Nadu, died on the spot. Swamy was in the city to meet his relative in Hanumanthanagar.

The police said Swamy was riding home with a relative along the Ring Road. At 5.15 pm, the speeding canter knocked the bike from behind at KR Puram. Swamy fell down and died on the spot due to head injuries, while the rider of the bike — who received minor injuries — was taken to hospital.

The KR Puram traffic police have booked a case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving, seized the canter and booked the driver.

In another mishap, a speeding car mowed down a pedestrian on the Outer Ring Road near Old Airport Road on Saturday.

Dhana Singh, a resident of Kadubisanahalli, worked as a security guard for a private company in HAL. A senior police official said the accident occurred at 6 am when Singh was trying to cross the road on his way to work. A speeding car ran him over and hurtled away.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car accelerated after knocking Singh down. The public informed the police, who rushed to the spot and registered a hit-and-run case.
