A man from Bengaluru drowned and a seven-year-old boy was reported missing at a beach in Kollam, on Sunday.

Muralidharan, a resident of Anubhav Nagar in Bengaluru, who was caught in rough waves, was brought ashore by life guards.

He was declared dead at a hospital. He was part of a 13-member tourist group.
The search for seven-year-old Varun, who went missing in the waves, is still on, said the police.

“Coastal police is still conducting a search for the boy but conditions are not very conducive for an extensive search. The sea near the accident location has been rough over the last couple of days,” an official at the Kollam East Police Station told Deccan Herald.

The tourist group had arrived in Kollam early on Sunday and the incident occurred around 10.30 am.

Preliminary reports said the victims were pulled into the sea by rough waves. Other members of the group are camping in Kollam and are monitoring procedures to move the victim’s body to Bengaluru.
