JOIN USBWSSB's proposal will tax BBMP
BWSSB Chairman P B Ramamurthy told reporters on Friday that the Board wrote to the BBMP Commissioner on January 1, 2011 to provide the tax rebate for five years, “based on the assurance given by the chief minister on the floor of the House at the Legislative Council in 2007”.
However, the Palike officials termed it “foolish” on the part of the BWSSB to expect the fund-starved BBMP to allow a tax cut for installing RWH structures on sites admeasuring 40 ft x 60 ft and more.

“In the long term, the RWH system will serve a great purpose in addressing the water shortage in the City,” Ramamurthy said.
He said the government has been requested to “prevail” upon the BBMP.
BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah said the financial implications of the two per cent rebate should be “worked out” before the proposal could be approved.
“We will put forth the proposal before the Taxation and Finance Standing Committee at the earliest to set the ball rolling,” he said.
A BWSSB proposal, prescribing disconnection of water supply and sewerage connections to building owners not installing RWH, has been pending with the State government for the past six months, Ramamurthy said.
A meeting to discuss all these issues and to fix a deadline for implementing the RWH project has been scheduled for April 18.
