Last Updated 10 December 2018, 19:44 IST

The Canadian International School (CIS) has raised Rs 3 lakh by hosting the seventh consecutive Terry Fox Run in association with the Terry Fox Foundation on its campus in Yelahanka.

The run is conducted in memory of Canadian athlete Terry Fox who died of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in 1981. The run at CIS was participated by 1,000 people from various schools, colleges, corporates and hospitals across Bengaluru.

"In 1980, Terry Fox captured our imagination with his cross-Canada Marathon of Hope to raise awareness and funding for Cancer research. His legacy is that marathons of hope are carried on by others around the globe every year, including here, to continue to raise awareness and funding for the cure," said Nicole Girard, the Consul General for Canada in Bengaluru.
