Car falls into trench in Koramangala

Last Updated 09 November 2018, 20:25 IST

Morning walkers in Koramangala were surprised to see a car fallen into a 10-ft deep trench on Niruguna Mandir Road, ST Bed in Koramangala on Friday. The trench was dug up by the BBMP.

Tapan Bhat said he saw the vehicle around 6.30 am when he was out on his routine walk.

"The car was locked and there was nobody inside. The incident must have happened late in the night or in the early hours. The trench has been dug up for about two months now and the authorities have not barricaded the area," Bhat said.

But Palike officials have another version to the story.

According to Hariprasad, assistant engineer, BBMP, the trench was always barricaded. He feels someone may have removed it at night.

"We have undertaken a special project to lay pipelines parallel to the stormwater drain to prevent flooding in Koramangala 4th Block. The work had started sometime ago. I visited the spot around 8.30 am, by which time the car had been removed," Hariprasad said.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi belonged to one Anusuya Mukherjee, who was not available for her version of the incident.
