Jaagruta Matadaara Vedike, a citizens’ group, conducted voter awareness drives in shopping malls, apartments and public places across the city on Sunday.

Sunil Reddy, a member of the group, said: “The message we are trying to convey is that we shouldn’t just blame the government for problems, but also come out and vote to elect good leaders.”

The team conducted various programmes such as street plays, a ‘Vote Maadi’ awareness music programme, a painting competition and a walkathon. The team is also creating an awareness campaign through social media.

“If more people come out and vote on May 12, our hard work will have a meaning. It’s also our duty towards a stronger India and our respect to the sacrifice of freedom fighters,” he added.
