The city police commissioner rejected the representation of Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasangha president V Shashidhar to ask police stations and divisional police officials not to impede his political activities in police colonies.

Shashidhar asked directions to the police officials not to obstruct workers of his political party 'Rakshaka Sene' from visiting police colonies, enrolling families of policemen and distributing pamphlets.

The government advocate submitted T Suneel Kumar's endorsement rejecting Shashidhar's plea before the high court.

The document was produced before the division bench comprising Justice H G Ramesh and Justice B Sreenivase Gowda in response to the court's recent notice on hearing Shashidhar's contempt petition alleging willful disobedience of the January 23, 2018, court order by the city police commissioner, the DG and the IGP.

The single judge had ordered the commissioner, DG and IGP to look into and respond to Shashidhar's representation on the issue. In his contempt petition, Shashidhar said the officials failed to carry out the court’s order.

Giving his reason for rejecting the representation, Kumar said Rakshaka Sene had 'Revolutionary Political Party of Indian Police Community' as its tagline and the police uniform as its symbol. It indicates that the party is against the existing system in the name of revolution, which is against the law.

"After being dismissed from the service on the charges of dereliction of duty, you are still provoking the police officials and staff by misleading them and disturbing law and order. It is also brought to your notice that you were responsible for police going on mass leave to protest against the department. This has brought the attention of the entire country and tarnished the image and credibility of the department as well as the state at the national level," the commissioner said.

Shashidhar had made efforts to provoke the police personnel and their family members through his propaganda against the department and the state while visiting the police colony, Kumar said.

However, Kumar said Rakshaka Sene is eligible to function just like other political parties as per the directions of the Election Commission.
