A second division assistant at the BBMP Commissioner's office was on Thursday suspended for allegedly leaking confidential information in connection with the transferable development rights (TDR) scam case.

Hanumantaiah had leaked the commissioner's letter that permitted probe against assistant executive engineer Krishnalal, deputed to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Anti-Corruption Bureau had written to the BBMP Commissioner seeking permission to search Krishnalal's residence. This letter was leaked to Krishnalal and ACB officials had found the letter at his residence during a raid.

Shocked ACB officials had grilled Krishnalal over the letter's source. The officials learnt about Hanumantaiah's role in the leak and had recommended disciplinary action.

Hanumantaiah was suspended by the assistant commissioner (administration) on Thursday.

ACB had searched Krishnalal on April 26 in connection with the multi-crore TDR scam. Two surveyors were also raided on May 1.
