Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman conducted an inspection at the site of the fire accident at the Yelahanka air base, the venue of Aero India 2019 which concluded on Sunday.
Officials from Indian Air Force, besides those of the state fire services and police, accompanied the minister. She was briefed about the incident by them.
The minister enquired about the steps being taken to settle insurance claims by the owners of cars that were gutted. Nirmala directed officials to ensure that the help desk of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has representatives from the insurance companies to facilitate settlement of claims.
Nirmala was also briefed about the quick action taken by the Operational Control Centre (OCC) of Aero India at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, in dousing the fire.
