A 24-year-old man was arrested in New Delhi for killing a software engineer at Nagondanahalli near Whitefield on August 16. The suspect is Harish Kumar, a resident of Delhi, and a gym instructor.

The victim, Vijayalakshmi, was also a resident of Delhi, and had come to the city a month ago. She was employed with a private firm at ITPB, and stayed at an apartment in Nagondanahalli. On August 19, her house owner noticed foul smell emanating from her apartment and informed the police, who found the body.

According to the police, Vijayalakshmi first met Kumar when she was studying in a college in Delhi. They became close. However, when Vijayalakshmi relocated to Bengaluru, Kumar thought it was a deliberate attempt to avoid him. He came to the city and picked up a fight with her. In a fit of rage, he smothered her to death. He fled to Delhi after committing the crime.

Following specific inputs, a police team had gone to Delhi and arrested him.
