Depressed doctor dies of injection overdose

Depressed over separating from her husband, a 31-year-old doctor died of an injection overdose at her house in Basaveshwara Nagar on Sunday.

Dr Sandhya, the deceased, is a native of Tirupati. She had come to the city three years ago and was working in a private hospital near Bashyam Circle.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon around 3 pm. An unconscious Sandhya was found by her maid. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but, doctors declared her brought dead.

According to a senior police office officer, Sandhya married Rajnith, a businessman, four years ago. The couple separated three months ago.

Sandhya’s parents, both doctors, are residing in Tirupati. They requested Sandhya to return home but she continued to live alone in the city.

Sandhya's parents told the police that she was not ready to move from Bengaluru. “She was depressed. She was taking anti-depression medication for a few months. She seems to have taken an overdose which caused her death,” her parents said.

The police did not find a suicide note and are awaiting the autopsy report.
