A 48-year-old doctor who is suspected to have killed his mother and sister by injecting a high dose of diabetic insulin, told the police that the women had injected the insulin themselves.

The police said on Monday that Dr Govind Prakash, who had also injected insulin into himself in a suicide attempt, is still under treatment at a private hospital and will be taken into custody in two days after he is discharged.

The RR Nagar police who are investigating the case added that Dr Prakash’s claim can be verified in the FSL report.

Prakash, who is practising in a major hospital, is suffering from a headache, while his sister Shyamala (40) was suffering from body pain and their mother was also suffering from a headache and was depressed after she could not get a match for her divorced daughter and unmarried son. It was said that all three had entered into a suicide pact and Prakash gave them a high dose of insulin and later injected it into himself on Friday night.

Dr Prakash’s father Subraya Bhat told the police that he found a note written by his son from the spot which revealed that they were all committing suicide on their own wish.
