Doc who survived family suicide pact sent to jail

A doctor who killed his mother and sister by injecting an overdose of diabetic insulin in a family suicide pact has been sent to jail.

On November 30, Govind Prakash, 45, allegedly killed his mother Mookambika (76) and Shyamala (46) by injecting a high-dosage of diabetic insulin. Though he injected himself, he survived.

The RR Nagar police registered an FIR following a complaint by Prakash’s father K Subraya Bhat and arrested the doctor on Wednesday while he was still in the hospital.

Prakash, who practised at a private hospital, had a headache while his sister had body pain. Their mother was in depression since she could not find a match for her divorced daughter and unmarried son.
