Driver held for friend’s murder

Rajgopal Nagar police opened fire at a murder accused, who attacked a police constable in a bid to escape in Peenya industrial area early on Sunday.

Kishore, a resident of Hegganahalli, and four associates had hacked Umesh (36) to death on May 12. Umesh ran a roadside eatery.

On May 22, Raveesh alias Ravi (44), Jithendra alias Jithu (30), residents of Hegganahalli along with Sumanth Raj (29) and Pradeep (40), both from Andrahalli, were arrested. The prime accused in the case, Kishore, was on the run.

He was seen near Peenya industrial area on Sunday morning on a two-wheeler. Following a tip-off, police waylaid Kishore. He left the bike and ran. As constable Shivaswamy gave a chase and caught Kishore, the latter attacked him. In self defense, inspector Dinesh Patil fired at Kishore’s right leg. Shivaswamy was admitted to a hospital.

Kishore was a driver at the school where the eatery owner Umesh’s daughter was studying. He befriended Umesh and his wife while picking up their daughter.

Kishore once told Umesh that he was underpaid and was finding it difficult to pay his rent. He sought accommodation at Umesh’s house. Actually, Kishore was fixated on Umesh’s wife.

Unaware, Umesh agreed. During his stay, Kishore video-graphed intimate moments of Umesh’s wife on his mobile.

Kishore then pressurised her to agree to a physical relationship with him, threatening to make the videos public. The woman told the story to her husband.

On January 13, Kirshore and Umesh fought. Kishore was sent out from the house thereafter. Kishore, on January 15, uploaded the videos on Facebook and WhatsApp.

Soon after, Umesh’s wife went to Kishore, humiliated him in public and filed a complaint. Kishore was arrested and sent to judicial custody. Out on bail, on May 1, Kishore hatched a plan with his associates, promising them
Rs 10,000 each.

The gang threw chilli powder at Umesh and hacked him to death.
