A 42-year-old man was arrested for selling ganja to students, software engineers and the general public at Govind Shetty Halli near Parappana Agrahara.

The police said Srinivas, a native of Bagaluru in Hosur taluk of Krishnagiri district in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu, was picked up following a tip-off. They also seized 8.1 kg of ganja from his possession.

The police are in search of a woman from Andhra Pradesh, who supplied ganja to Srinivas. The woman, who has no mobile phones, brings the narco substance in a bag to Bengaluru. She travels by bus and brings a toddler along to avert any suspicion.

The woman would keep the bag in an abandoned house near Maluru and would later visit Srinivas in his shop to inform him that she has left a bag for him at the house. She would collect the money from him and return home.

Srinivas would pick up the bag in the night and would make small packets of ganja, which he sold for Rs 500. He told the police that he did not know the woman's name or address.

Srinivas also told them that the Hosur police had sent him to jail for killing a woman six years ago, when his wife and children left him. He later became addicted to ganja and slipped into depression. He came into contact with drug peddlers in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and became a peddler himself to make a quick buck.
