Last Updated 12 November 2014, 20:32 IST

As many as 30 students of class 11 and 12 from across the country are taking part in the finals of the National Safety Science quiz, which began in the City on Wednesday.

The preliminary round held in September saw participation of as many as 2,500 students. The previous editions of the quiz were on the topic ‘Fire and Electrical safety’ and this time, the scope has been widened by including subjects such as road, environment and food safety.

A Safety Parliament has also been organised on November 14, where the students will interact with experts and compile a list of their recommendations. This will, in turn, be brought to the notice of the State government and other agencies.

“With safety issues becoming a serious concern all over the country, it is of utmost importance that they are deliberated at a very young age,” said  K G Kumar, Director of the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM).
