The Parappana Agrahara police arrested a gang of four who were robbing people on the pretext of giving them a lift in their car.

The accused are Nagendra alias Naga, Venkatesh, Vijay Kumar all from Hosur and Basavaraj from Anekal. The police seized two cars and 84 grams of gold chains from them. There are seven robbery cases against them in several police stations in the city, said DCP (north-east) M B Boralingaiah.

The four were arrested following a complaint by R Karthik, a software engineer working for a private firm and a resident of Electronics City. In his complaint, he stated that on July 27, he was waiting for a bus at Electronics City II Stage to go to Hosur. The accused came in a car and told him that they too were going to Hosur and offered to drop him. Karthik trusted them and sat in the car. After driving for some distance, the accused threatened him at knifepoint and demanded that he hand over his mobile, gold chain and two rings. They even snatched his debit card and withdrew Rs 15,000 cash from Federal Bank ATM at Balagaranahalli and threatened to shoot him if he filed a complaint. They made him get off near Attibele service road and fled.

Karthik later called his friend to the spot and came back to Electronics City and filed a complaint.
