Gang of four arrested for theft in Banasawadi

The city police have arrested a gang of four robbers and seized three bikes with cash from the accused.

Natives of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the arrested have been identified as R Gopi (32) from Tirupati, Appa Rao (40) from Godavari district, Gopi alias Rajan (43) from Kakinada and Suresh (44) from Ranga Reddy district.

According to the police, the four followed George Silva on September 3, 2018, on 80 Feet Road in Banaswadi when he was exiting a bank after withdrawing Rs 10,000. He parked his Honda Activa in front of a photocopy shop when the miscreants broke open his seat lock and made away with his cash.

The gang would deploy diversionary tactics on their victims like putting some kind of powder on them and asking them to clean it. They would even put currency notes on the ground and tell their victims that their money had fallen. Meanwhile, another person would flee with the bag or valuables in their vehicles, the police added.
