Last Updated 12 January 2019, 02:02 IST

Geetha Vishnu, the grandson of former MP the late D K Audikesavulu, who caused an accident in September 2017 after being high on drugs and liquor, learnt that the police had seized 110 gm of marijuana from his Benz SUV.

He realised that he would be booked under the stringent NDPS Act. Vishnu, in his statement, said that his advocate told him that since it was Ayudha Puja on September 28, and it was also a long weekend, courts would remain closed, resulting in an extended stay in jail for him. Vishnu, who was admitted to Mallya Hospital after the accident, then decided to go into hiding for a couple of days and made an escape plan with his sister and brother-in-law.

With help from his gunman Anand and his friend Vinod, Vishnu escaped from the fire exit around 6.15 am, took an auto and called his sister Chaitanya who lives in Whitefield and narrated the incident. She came with her husband Dr Rajesh Naidu and took him to their apartment. His arrival at the flat was captured on CCTV, whose footage the police submitted as evidence.

Later, his sister took him to Hyderabad in a car. The following day, he learnt that the police were coming to Hyderabad to arrest him. He fled to his farm in Madikeri. After six days, he surrendered before the CCB. He was then granted bail in all the four cases and released.
