Get licence for your pets at Cubbon Park today

Last Updated 22 April 2018, 06:21 IST

Pet lovers from across Bengaluru will gather at Cubbon Park on Sunday to get licences for their four-legged friends.

Organised by The Cubbon Park Canines in collaboration with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the pet-licensing drive aims at protecting the rights of pet owners besides ensuring the health and rights of their pets.

"Pet licensing is mandatory in most Indian cities but remains optional in Bengaluru. The CPC aims to facilitate the licensing of pets in the city to ensure the health and protection of pets," said Priya Chetty-Rajagopal, the founder of the CPC.

To get their pets licensed, pet parents should carry originals (and photocopies) of up-to-date pet vaccination records, address proof and government-issued ID. The BBMP charges a licence fee of Rs 110 for which a simple form has to be filled up. If the pet vaccinations are current, the pet is not required to be physically present. The documents will suffice.

Besides the licence, pet owners can also get on-the-spot health checkups and subsidised vaccinations for their pets.

This will be the third pet-licensing drive by the CPC. The previous drives were a huge success with over 550 licences being issued so far.

"The vaccination of pets is essential for getting a licence. If the dog is an Indie breed or a rescued animal, there will be discounts," Priya added.

On Saturday, volunteers aged between 3 and 60 came together to clean the dog park to make it ready for the drive.
