The government on Tuesday informed the high court that a farmer from Doddarasinakere village was free to undergo renal transplant by receiving a kidney from a donor.
Justice Raghvendra Chauhan disposed of D K Ravikumar’s petition against the denial of permission by the authorities for renal transplant.
Ravikumar said a 55-year-old female relative had offered to donate her kidney. In 2017, the authorities denied him permission saying there was no material to establish they were close relatives and it was possible the offer had a commercial intent. They also noted though Ravikumar’s annual income was Rs 12,000, Rs 8 lakh was deposited in his account between 2013 and 2017 and he withdrew the money. Ravikumar said he earned the money from farm produce.
