The Central Investigation Department (CID) on Friday submitted a report to the court detailing the steps taken to probe the case of Ajitabh, a software engineer, who went missing from the city on December 18.

Ajitabh had left home in Whitefield to sell his car to a buyer, who had contacted him through OLX, an online classified portal on which he had put his car for sale.

Sreenidhi V, counsel for the state, submitted before the court that the CID was also exploring other possibilities with regard to the investigation of the case.

Stating that it needed more time to collect evidence, the counsel sought one month time for the probe agency to continue its investigation.

The counsel for Ajitabh’s father, the petitioner in the case, also informed the count that they have not received any ransom call so far and that the father had some information which he found difficult to convey to the police.

The court directed the superintendent of police to speak to the petitioner so that he may share the information he had.

The court also directed Anand Kumar, superintendent of police to submit his report with regard to the ensuing investigation, on or before May 28.

The court adjourned the matter for hearing to May 29.
