The Karnataka high court has granted two weeks to the state to deport a Pakistani couple, convicted for entering the country without a passport or visa.

The court, during the last hearing, had directed for immediate deportation of Kasif Shamsuddin alias Kasif and his wife Kiran Gulam Ali, who hail from Chakraphot in Karachi district of Pakistan. The court had issued the directions while hearing a petition filed by the couple. The court on Wednesday granted two weeks’ time in response to an interim application filed by the central government to comply with the earlier order.

The government also submitted a communication, wherein the Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that it has no objection to the petitioners being deported as there are no cases pending against them.

The court also stated in its order that on issuance of clearance from the home department, Government of Karnataka, and exit pass by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, the police shall immediately ensure that the petitioners are escorted to the Attari/Wagah border and handed over to the Pakistani Rangers.
