Heavy rain lashed the city on Friday evening, inconveniencing commuters and inundating a few roads.

According to the BBMP control room, three trees were uprooted in the city (near Domlur, St John’s Hospital on Sarjapur Road and near Agara Lake), but no injuries or damage was reported.

MG Road, Cunningham Road and roads near Cubbon Park were waterlogged, leaving commuters no choice but to wade through the streets. Mayor R Sampath Raj attended to rain-related complaints from the citizens at the main BBMP control room.

No damage to electricity poles or trees being uprooted were reported from Bescom, according to N Jayanthi, general manager, customer relations.

“Bengaluru cannot take heavy rains. Transportation comes to a stop, waterlogged roads and no street lights! Why the hell do we pay tax when our hard-earned money is not used for our benefit?” Richa Rampal, a resident, tweeted.
