Hundreds walk in city for conservation of wildlife

A walkathon to spread the message of conservation was held from Cubbon Park to Lalbagh on Monday morning.

The walkathon was flagged off by Forest, Environment and Ecology minister B Ramanath Rai. Actors Prakash Rai and Punith Rajkumar participated in the event along with officials from Forest department, conservationists, experts from different fields, students, NGOs and nature lovers.

The walkathon to mark the Wildlife Week from October 2-9, is held every year to spread the message of conservation. The theme this year was “Walk for Conservation of Wildlife”.

Many local traditional artistes participated in the walkathon showcasing their talent and capturing the attention of passersby. The Pulikali dance performance by Ramanth Rai was another highlight of the walkathon.
