An IT firm employee was kidnapped and assaulted in Ashok Nagar by four men, including his employer, for allegedly misappropriating office funds.

Suraj G (23), filed a complaint with the Ashok Nagar police alleging his employer Jack and three others kidnapped and assaulted him.

Ashok Nagar police registered an FIR, and are yet to arrest the culprits. Suraj was an employee at an IT firm that manages online transactions. He was hired some months ago for a salary of Rs 30,000 per month, the police said.

According to the police, on February 5, Suraj and his employer Jack went for dinner at a hotel on Markham Road. While returning, as Suraj was walking towards his house, three men came in two auto-rickshaws along with Jack and started assaulting Suraj forcing him inside one of the vehicles. They then took Suraj to a room in Madiwala where he was locked up and assaulted further.

Suraj told the police that the assailants were threatening him saying he had misappropriated office funds. According to Suraj, the assailants later released him after checking his bank account, questioning if he had hid any money at his house.

Later, on February 10, the same gang approached Suraj again near his house and assaulted him with sticks and machetes. They threatened him to give Rs 1 lakh to the office or else be eliminated. Suraj then approached the Ashok Nagar police and filed a complaint.

“We are yet to arrest the culprits booked for kidnapping and attempt to murder among other charges. We also suspect that the complainant is involved in some misappropriation of funds which has to be investigated,” said a senior police officer.
