Koramangala RTO to be closed for a week from Jan 18

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) at Koramangala will be closed for a week from January 18 as the transport department seeks to upgrade to e-Vahan.

In a press release, K T Halaswamy, deputy commissioner of transport, has requested those who have submitted applications regarding motor vehicle registration and allied services and also those who want to submit such applications, to get their work completed by January 17.

“Work pertaining to the registration of vehicle, payment or remittance of tax and fee will remain closed from January 18 to 24,” the release said.

Officials said the new software would not allow the pending work, which means applications cannot be transferred from the old system to the new e-Vahan 4, introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The software seeks to automate most of the works by removing manual interventions, starting from booking an appointment for the payment of the various fee, transfer of ownership, change of address and insurance details.

The closure of the RTO, which sees the registration of between 5,000 and 7,000 vehicles every month and caters to thousands of others with regard to various services, is likely to affect many.

The Rajajinagar RTO went through a similar process for 10 days in December last year.
