Last Updated 26 October 2018, 12:37 IST

Lalbagh, the garden city’s historical landmark, is going plastic-free with its various initiatives.

The authorities have banned plastic bottles and food items packaged in plastic inside the garden.

In its effort to ensure strict adherence to the ban, the garden’s management has appointed female security boards to prevent visitors from carrying or using plastic within the garden’s premises.

The Hopcoms outlet within the garden’s premises has been restricted from selling chips packets, bottled water and any items packaged in plastic.

The authorities have also set up seven drinking water facilities with one Reverse Osmosis plant. Four temporary water filtration plants have also been set up.

Visitors cannot bring any form of plastic to the garden and those violating the rule will have to pay a fine ranging between Rs 100 and 500.
