Lorry mows down welder on Ballari Road

In a case of hit-and-run, a 27-year-old welder was mowed down by an unidentified lorry on Ballari Road under Devanahalli traffic police limits on Friday night.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sunil Vishwakarma, a native of Uttar Pradesh who was residing with four of his friends on IVC Road. He was working for a private contractor at the airport.

At around 11.10 pm, he was crossing the road to reach his house, when the speeding lorry mowed him down. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot. The passersby noticed him lying in a pool of blood, alerted the police and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The CCTV footage is being examined to identify the vehicle, the police said.

Student dies

A 19-year-old student, on Saturday, succumbed to injuries that he sustained in an accident on Wednesday. 

The deceased is Pradip, a resident of Yelahanka and a first year BCom student in a private college in the same locality. On Wednesday, at around 6.30 pm, he - along with four of his friends - had been to Hesaraghatta to meet another friend. When they were returning, his friend Rinkesh who was driving the car lost control over it, while negotiating a curve at Hesaraghatta cross under Jalahalli traffic police limits and the vehicle toppled.

Pradip, who was sitting next to Rinkesh, suffered severe head injuries. His friends suffered minor injuries. They managed to pull out Pradip and shifted him to a private hospital.
