Man arrested for selling opium

A 32-year-old drug peddler was arrested and the police have recovered 750 grams of opium worth Rs 3 lakh from his possession. The accused has been identified as Bera Ram, a resident of Nayandahalli on Mysuru Road.

The police have started a drive to hunt down drug peddlers in the city.

Based on a tip off, the police went near Gopalan Residency in Telecom Layout where Ram was waiting for customers. The police arrested him and seized 50 grams of opium. Later, he was taken to his house where the police recovered another 700 grams of the drug.

Ram told the police that he used to bring the drugs from Rajasthan by train and sell it to youths and college students.

The KP Agrahara police have registered a case and are investigating to unearth the source of the drugs.
