Man arrested for stalking woman on social media

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for threatening, besides attempting to extort money from a couple.

The suspect Chandan Kumar, a resident of Koonagal village in Ramanagara district, is a class 10 dropout.

Kumar had opened an account on the facebook in the name of Chandana. He established contacted with a 28-year-old homemaker from Srinagar. The duo chatted and even shared details of their routines.

A few days later after Chandana sought the housewife’s Whatsapp number. On verification, the homemaker realised that Chandana was a man and blocked his number, besides blocking him on social media.

Chandan called her up and claimed that he had all her photographs, videos and information which he would post on social media if she did not pay him money.

He also directed her to meet him at the specified place and time when sought.

She informed her husband, but Chandan threatened to kill the couple if they informed the police.

The woman then approached the Hanumanthanagar police station and lodged a complaint. Based on her complaint, the police arrested Kumar.
