Man hacked to death, old rivalry suspected

A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by four bike-borne men at Bilekahalli on Thursday night.

The victim, identified as Yusuf Salam, was a real estate agent and lived by himself in a rented house in Puttenahalli. Salam, a native of Shivamogga, had come to the city a few years ago.

On Thursday, around midnight, he was riding to Arekere to meet his relatives. Four men followed him and picked up a quarrel, stabbing him repeatedly.

Nearby residents came out on hearing Salam scream and saw him lying in a pool of blood, and alerted the police. The Mico Layout police rushed to the spot and shifted him to hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

The police said they have collected CCTV footage and are ascertaining the reason for the attack. They are scrutinising Salam's phone records to ascertain if there was any financial dispute or old enmity with anyone.
