A 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her live-in partner who suspected her fidelity.

The suspect, Syed Tabrez (28) killed Shabeena Banu in J C Nagar on Wednesday night.

The victim was an Anganwadi teacher and a resident of 4th Cross Marappa Garden in J C Nagar, the police said. The police have arrested the victim’s live-in partner who is an electrician and a native of Kolar.

According to the police, Shabeena and Tabrez were in a relationship for over two years and had moved-in a house in J C Nagar a month ago.

Shabeena was married to another man in 2014 but had divorced him within a month of their marriage. She lived with her father, Sabir Khan on Modi Road in D J Halli after that.

Two years ago, she developed a liking towards Tabrez and moved-in with him. Shabeena misled her father by telling him that she had married Tabrez, the police said.

After they started living together, Tabrez began suspecting Banu’s fidelity as she was constantly on calls or sent messages to someone. A fight would ensue between them whenever Tabrez would question her about the mystery person and the prolonged phone use.

On the night of the murder, the couple had an argument about the same issue. An enraged Tabrez picked a kitchen knife and stabbed Shabeena on her neck and stomach.

He then took a towel and strangled her to death after which he locked the house and left for Kolar.

Tabrez shared the details about the incidents with his friends in Kolar who in turn informed the police. They even brought Tabrez to the city for the police to arrest him.

J C Nagar police have registered a case of murder and further investigations are underway.
