
In a suspected case of honour killing, a 25-year-old man was killed by his wife’s brother at Nallur village in Devanahalli taluk, 36 kilometres from Bengaluru.
The victim is Harish Muninarayanappa, a cab driver, the police said.
The Channarayapatna police have arrested the suspect, Vinay Kumar (22), who confessed that his family was opposed to his sister’s marriage with Harish from Nayaka community.
According to the police, Harish, a resident of Bidaluru, while studying in college fell in love with Meenakshi, a resident of Nallur, who belonged to Thigala community.
They married eight months ago against Meenakshi’s family members wish.
On Tuesday, at around 10 pm, Vinay Kumar called Harish to an isolated spot on the outskirts of Nallur and stabbed him to death.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning, when passers-by noticed his body lying in a pool of blood and informed the police.
Muninarayanappa, Harish’s father, has filed a complaint with the Channarayapatna police who have registered a case of murder.
“Further investigations are underway to ascertain if anyone else is involved in the murder conspiracy,” a senior police officer said.
