Medium of education will be English:DyCM

Deputy chief minister G Parameshwara on Monday said that the coalition government has taken a policy decision that the medium of instruction in government schools from the coming academic year will be English.

This is the decision of the government and I support what Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said. The students need to be trained for national and international level competitions and for the future and so this decision has been taken.

To start with it will be introduced in 1000 government primary schools and will be gradually extended. Earlier it was from 5th standard but now it will be from class 1.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the five fay long Southern India Science Fair 2029 being held at St Josephs ground, organised by Visveswvaraya museum of science and technology and department of education.

Parameshwara also said that horizon of education and vision need to be expanded. It is not about politics but future of students.
He said that as Science and Technology minister, a decision has also been taken to set up science centres in all districts. A meeting has been called to identify locations and start work on this direction.

Pertaining to the Bharat Bundh he said that though associations have announced that bus services will be shut down, the decision on the number of buses to ply and the effect it will have on people will be decided after holding a discussion with CM.

On the issue of appointment of five politicians in the Nigama mandali he said that no appointment has been cancelled. They have been put on hold at present because clarifications are needed. The decision will be taken after holding a meeting with the party high command, Cm, KPCC President and Rahul Gandhi.
