JOIN US The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has suspected the involvement of Base Movement activists in the low-intensity blast in a toilet of a court complex at Mysuru on August 1, 2016.
The NIA sleuths have submitted the charge sheet in this regard against the three accused - Nainar Abbas Ali alias Library Abbas Ali (28), a painter from Islampuram in Madurai in Tamil Nadu, Samsun Karim Raja (23), the owner of Ahad broilers chicken shop in K Pudur, Madurai and Dawood Sulaiman Abdullah (23), an assistant systems engineer trainee, TCS, Chennai.
They were associated with the Base Movement which was founded on January 26, 2015. The primary objective of the Base Movement was to follow the principles of Al Qaeda, states the charge sheet.
There were three main objectives for the accused in carrying out blasts. They wanted to take revenge for deaths of eight SIMI activists in an encounter in Madhya Pradesh in 2016. They thought that the Muslim inmates in prisons were not being treated properly.
They were under the impression that the judiciary was not properly conducting trials in the cases of Muslims. Therefore, they decided to carry out blasts at court halls, the charge sheet adds.
The NIA claims that it has collected sufficient evidence to establish the involvement of Base Movement activists in attacks in court halls across South India. The trio were arrested on November 28, 2016. They have been lodged in central prisons, Parappana Agrahara.
