A newly married woman filed a complaint against her husband for allegedly infecting her with HIV.

The 21-year-old BCom graduate, who recently learnt about her condition, alleged that her husband Peer Pasha (name changed) married her without revealing he was HIV+ve.

In a complaint filed at Bagalagunte police station on Wednesday, the victim said the man and his family, despite knowing he was infected with the virus, hid the fact from everyone as they feared he wouldn't find a match.

Bagalagunte police said they are investigating the case and are yet to arrest the accused, who runs a cyber cafe in Laggere.

The woman said that after graduation, she wanted to join a private company, but a marriage broker brought Pasha's family to her house and convinced her parents to accept the alliance.

They got married on July 15, 2018. Her parents gave jewellery and Rs 1 lakh in dowry. Things went smooth for two months after which Pasha and his parents started harassing her.

The woman said they wanted her father's house in T Dasarahalli registered in her name. When she refused, they began assaulting her. They also threatened to poison her if she failed to get the house registered in her name.

On November 17, she fell sick and was admitted to hospital. A medical test revealed that she was infected with HIV.

She also claimed that her husband's friend Murali (name changed) was living with them and that the three were sharing a bed.

"When I objected, my husband thrashed me. I brought this to the notice of my in-laws too, but they did nothing. After that, I shifted to my parents' house and filed a complaint with the police," she said.
