Parameshwara inspects Sirsi circle flyover

A new method called ‘Asphaltico seal’ is being used to resurface and lay the asphalt by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) at the Sirsi Circle flyover.

Inspecting the ongoing maintenance work on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said that the new method has been adopted by the civic body to ease the process of asphalting. “We are resurfacing the road with ‘Asphaltico Seal’ sheet. After milling the road, this sheet will be laid by heating it to close to 140-degree temperature. This new method helps in preventing potholes and stagnation of water on the road,” said Parameshwara.

One of the contractors associated with the project, Manjunath M of Sai Trisha Infra Engineers Private Limited, also said that this method of laying asphalt is convenient to use and helps in reducing the time. “Unlike the usual process of laying bituminous asphalt, this process requires less time and is better durable. If we would have gone for a regular method of asphalting, it would have taken at least six months of time. Now, we can finish the work in four months,” said Manjunath.

The movement from Town Hall towards Mysore Road is closed for traffic, and the milling in this stretch is almost complete, said the contractor.
