Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respect to his cabinet colleague and longtime party friend Ananth Kumar, who passed away on the early hours of Monday.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, Karnataka BJP President BS Yeddyurappa and Union Minister JP Nadda accompanied Prime Minister.

Prime Minister stayed in Ananth Kumar's residence for 10 minutes and consoled the family members. The condolence letter was handed over to the family members by Union Health Minister JP Nadda.

Public viewing was stopped prior to PM visit, where the huge crowd had gathered near Ananth Kumar's residence. It was a herculean task for police personnel to control the crowd. After the departure of the prime minister, the public was allowed inside.

BJP national president Amit Shah and other senior BJP national leaders are expected to attend Ananth Kumar's funeral on Tuesday.
