Police shoot burglars who dodged arrest

Police fired at two men involved in burglary and dacoity when they attacked a constable who went to arrest them in Akkupete Forest Area in the outskirts of Devanahalli.

On Wednesday, police fired at Pavan (24) and Uday (19) who burgled the house of a businessman in Yelahanka and also have cases against them at the Devanahalli police station.

Yelahanka police said they received information that the suspects were in a forest area near Devanahalli. They rushed to the spot around 5.30 pm and found the men sitting in the middle of the forest. The men threw stones at the cops despite warning to surrender and tried to flee the scene. They also attacked the police crew with a knife. Inspectors Manjegowda and Manjunath shot them in the leg in self-defence.
