To help voters locate their nearest polling booth and even register their names on electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday launched Chunavana, an Android-based mobile application.

Karnataka was chosen for the launch of the app by the ECI. The app was launched on a pilot basis in mid-April and based on the feedback obtained from the people, improvisations were made. The app was launched by Sanjiv Kumar, chief electoral officer. The web-based version can also be accessed.

Explaining the App’s details, M Jayachandran, project director, Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre, said at present, the Android version has been launched and in the coming days, the IOS version will also be launched.

“All the 56,696 polling booths have been mapped in the app, so also the boundaries of all 224 constituencies,” Jayachandran said.
