Sanatan Sanstha functionary hits out at SIT

Last Updated 04 December 2018, 17:33 IST

Pro-Hindu organisations have cried foul over inclusion of Sanathan Sanstha’s name in the charge feet filed in journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case and accused the police of hatching a conspiracy to malign the organisation by bribing one of the accused.

“If the Special Investigation Team (SIT) claims that Gauri Lankesh was killed by reading the religious text of Sanatan (Sanstha), will they explain on which holy texts Jihadi terrorism and Naxalism, which kill lakhs of people, are based,” Chetan Rajhans, national spokesperson, Sanatan Sanstha, asked.

The leaders of the organisations said SIT Karnataka issued a statement about submitting additional charge sheet against 18 activists of various devout Hindu organisations. The charge sheet shows that “efforts were being made to dig out an old issue of Hindu terrorism and conspiracy to start Malegaon-2 edition after Malegaon-1 has proved to be a total failure”, they said.

They said those arrested in Gauri Lankesh case belong to various organisations. But efforts were being made to target Sanatan Sanstha, which propagates Hindu Dharma. “This script appears to have been jointly written by Karnataka SIT and CBI in Maharashtra,” Rajhans charged.

The common link in both the killing is the religious text ‘Kshatradharma Sadhana’ published by Sanatan Sanstha. It is claimed that the arrested accused were inspired by this writing.

‘Accused was bribed’

“After the arrests when nothing came out of it during interrogation, one of the accused, Parashuram Waghmore has lured with Rs 25 lakh if he names Sanatan Sanstha. After this conspiracy did not succeed, they are spreading the false information everywhere that the killing was committed after reading a text of Sanatan Sanstha,” he said.

A spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti said, “Amol Kale, whom the investigation agency claims as the main accused in Gauri Lankesh case, was not in contact with the Samiti for the last 10 years. He never held any post in the Samiti. Similarly, Dr Virendrasinh Tawade did not participate in any of the activities of Samiti but has been named its vice-president by the CBI in its charge sheet.”
