The Southern India Science Drama Festival, aimed at encouraging young minds to use theatre as a medium to communicate science, will be conducted at the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM) on Friday at 10.30am.

Plays based on various themes – life and works of scientists, light and life, save our soil, cleanliness and health, innovate or perish – will be staged. Two teams each from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, will participate in the fest and a total of ten 30-minute plays will be staged.

Each year the Southern India Science Drama Festival begins as a competitive event in different states of the southern India.

The preliminary events are organised by the five respective state education departments.

300 plays
This year about 300 plays were staged at the first level, of which 70 were selected for participation at the five state levels. From amongst these, two plays each from the five states will be showcased in the fest.

Four eminent theatre personalities from five southern states will evaluate the presentations and the two best teams will get an opportunity to participate in the National Science Drama Festival, 2016 to be held in Kolkata.
