Soon, a MEMU train from Bengaluru to Mysuru after 7 pm

A mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) train is likely to come to the rescue of passengers travelling from Bengaluru to Mysuru in the evening hours.

The South Western Railway (SWR) is proposing to extend the Ramangaram train for four days in a week.

After the diversion of Kannur/Karwar Express on the new route via Shravanabelagola for four days in a week in February this year, passengers travelling to Mysuru had no train from Bengaluru after 7 pm.

In a proposal that was delivered to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal by Pratap Simha, Mysuru MP, the SWR has sought “temporary extension” of Ramanagaram MEMU (66539) for four days in a week from Wednesday to Saturday.

The train will run as Mysuru Ramanagaram MEMU special (06576) on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Ramanagaram MEMU leaves Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna station in Bengaluru at 7.55 pm. Sources said it is proposed to leave Ramanagaram at 9 pm and reach Mysuru at 11.15 pm. The timings for the return direction will be decided soon, the source added.

Simha tweeted a photo of himself with Goyal: “Requested @PiyushGoyal ji to extend Benglauru-Ramnagar MEMU upto Mysuru and he immediately instructed the officials. It will be a reality soon (sic).”
