The High Court of Karnataka dismissed a habeas corpus petition filed by the brother of one of the accused in the 2010 Chinnaswamy Stadium blasts case.
The court asked the petitioner, Hassan Aziz Aamir, to approach the trial court for clarification on his prayer pertaining to the release of his brother.
Hassan stated that Gauhar Aziz Khomeni had confessed to his role in the stadium bombing. He said Gauhar completed his sentence on February 22, 2019, and following payment of a fine amounting to Rs 2.7 lakh on February 26, 2019, his detention by the police was illegal. The petitioner has sought directions to the police to immediately release his brother.
