Surprise showers flood roads, leave commuters stranded

Heavy rains that lashed the City’s northern parts Monday evening caused heavy traffic jam from Mekhri Circle junction to Amruthahalli junction.

The Hebbal flyover was flooded with rainwater making it cumbersome for commuters.
The roads turned a nightmare for pedestrians. Chaos struck the Mekhri Circle junction as people, drenched in rain, stood waiting for the BMTC buses which were already overloaded with passengers.

Tree branches that fell due to rain, ill-maintained footpaths and the slush on the road added to the trouble.

The RR Nagar flyover also witnessed traffic congestion for nearly a two-km stretch. Absence of traffic cops to regulate vehicular movement compounded the misery.

Potholes on the TV Tower Road in Jayamahal Extension need immediate repairs as the rains rendered the stretch a total mess. Airport cabs were seen stuck in the traffic.

Besides, road leading to Yelahanka and Devanahalli were also the worst affected.
The traffic police had a tough time clearing the vehicle pile-up in Hebbal, Kodigehalli and Sahakarnagar. Similar was the situation in Yeshwantpur and Peenya areas.
