Surveillance to be upped at 31 railway stations

 The South Western Railway has decided to instal CCTV cameras in 31 stations at a cost of Rs 15 crore to enhance security for its passengers.

As per the plan, 12 stations in Hubballi division will get CCTV cameras at a cost of Rs 5.721 crore. Similarly, 11 stations in Bengaluru division (Rs 5.493 crore) and eight in Mysuru division (Rs 3.96 crore) will get surveillance devices.

As part of exercise to increase security on trains, Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel are conducting regular checks.

In 2016, RPF personnel recovered leftover luggage and Rs 12-lakh worth electronic gadgets, gold ornaments and cash which were later returned to passengers.
