A 31-year-old software engineer jumped from the 13th floor of his office building in Bhamane Tech Park and died on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Amlan Burman, an Mphasis staffer and a native of Assam. Around 1.45 pm, he went to a coffee shop on the 13th floor and jumped down, said the police.

He relocated to Bengaluru with his mother Shikha Burman a year ago and was staying in Mahadevapura.

Shikha Burman told the police that he was under medication for depression. After two days leave, he was back at the office on Thursday.

He told his colleagues that he would go to the coffee shop for a cup of coffee. On hearing an alarm, his colleagues rushed downstairs and found him lying in a pool of blood, said the police.

The police did not find any death note. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
