In a glaring security breach at the Kempegowda International Airport, a software engineer hoodwinked CISF guards on Tuesday and sneaked into the terminal by showing a fake ticket to see off his mother and wife.

Though the techie, Sandeep Joshi, was intercepted by the CISF staff while trying to get out of the boarding arena, the incident has exposed a lapse in the security protocol.

According to the police, Joshi, a native of Singhbhum in Jharkhand, is a software engineer at a reputable MNC in the city.

His mother and wife had visited him recently. After staying here for a few days, they had to return to Mumbai. Joshi had booked tickets online for them. Using a copy of one of the tickets, he forged his name on it and entered the airport and bid them farewell till the boarding gates.

Later, he went around the airport for some time and tried to come out at the exit gate when the staff stopped him. Officials apprehended and interrogated him, a senior police officer said.

Based on the complaint by a CISF sub-inspector, the airport police booked Joshi under impersonation and forgery and remanded him in judicial custody.
